Rainbowfishes

There's currently two ways you can view the rainbowfish species accounts. The first is by the alphabetic list below, the second is based on how genetics groups them (Browse by phylogeny) so you can get a clearer idea of which species are more related to each other. We will add a third option in the near future to view the species based on their biogeography.

The family Melanotaeniidae — the rainbowfishes — is the larger of the two families in the book. Each species below links to its full illustrated account; the book species are reproduced verbatim with all figures, and a few species not in the 2011 book have been added from later scientific literature. (The three Melanotaenia splendida subspecies are covered within the M. splendida account.)
